January 2021 Road Captain Article

Well Happy New Year everyone! I hope that this article finds you all in good health! It’s my honor to be your Lead Road Captain once again and I’m looking forward to riding with all of you!

I have great expectation that 2021 will be a much better year in general and that we can finally get past all of this Covid crap! In the meantime, At the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 the Board members get together to try to put rides, Meet and Eats  and overnighters together, of course the difficulty that we have is that we never know when a restaurant or hotel is going to close or cancel on us even after we have reservations.  With this in mind, I’m asking everyone to stay flexible and understand if we have to change course or reschedule a ride or overnight location. We will however, continue to have chapter rides no matter what. I personally have found that going for a ride with my chapter friends or even just riding by myself or with my wife gives me much needed escape and gives me the ability to clear my head of the day’s events!

On a lighter note, I need to remind you all to continually check your tire pressure before heading out for the day’s ride. The dramatic temperature changes that we get here in the desert really messes with the pressure and an underinflated tire could cause handling issues and also excessive tire wear.  You may also want to invest in some “Heated Gear”. This type of gear allows you to wear less bulky clothing and can make those cold trips a lot more enjoyable.

If you have any ride ideas or locations that you might want to visit and think that the chapter would also enjoy, please let me know and let’s see if we can get them on the schedule!

Here’s hoping for a Great 2021!!
